A
message from your Area Director, Tom Mason, PGA:
After a
beautiful September and October, Mother Nature has decided to
turn on us in November. I hope 2018 has been very
prosperous to everyone so far, and hopefully the sun will be
shinning bright again in the near future.
This will
be final report to you as the Palmetto Area (Area II)
Director. Thank you for allowing me to serve on the
Carolinas PGA Board of Directors for the last five years. I
appreciate all the ideas and feedback that several of you have
given me over the years. If you had a question or concern,
your voice was heard at our board meetings. Steven Hartwig,
Head Golf Professional at The Country Club of Lexington will be
sworn in as our Area II Director during our Annual Meeting in
Greensboro in February. He is looking forward to the
opportunity to serve on the CPGA Board of Directors, and I assure
you he will do a fantastic job.
We are
trying to put together an Area II Rules of Golf Seminar.
Please be on the look-out for information pertaining to this
seminar in the near future. We were trying to schedule the
event sometime in December, but it is looking more like we will
be holding the event in January.
Please make
sure you mark your calendars well in advance for the Carolinas
PGA Annual Meeting and Super Show. The Annual Meeting will
be held on Monday, February 18th and the Merchandise
Show and Winter Seminar will begin at the conclusion of the
meeting. The schedule of events will be available
soon.
I want to
thank Rick Murphy for running for Secretary of The PGA of
America. Rick ran a phenomenal campaign but came up a few
votes short in the final voting. Rick dedicated a huge
chuck of time and resources to his campaign. Please thank
Rick for his efforts and for all that he has done to help our
association over the years.
Finally, I
would like to thank several individuals for being wonderful
mentors to me during my two terms as Area II Director.
First and foremost, I want to thank the two Executive Directors
who have led the Section during my tenure. Ron Schmid and
Jeff Abbot have been outstanding leaders of the Carolinas PGA
Section. The entire staff of the Carolinas PGA has done a
wonderful job with the daily affairs of our section. I want
to thank all of the Past Presidents who have served our section
during my two terms. Robert Harper, Rick Murphy, Mike
Casto, Chad Newton, John Marino, and Paige Cribb, thank you for
leadership. I appreciate your passion to lead and thank you
for helping me become a more seasoned golf professional.
