First Tee – Central Carolina

Club Golf is a “first of its kind” program designed to introduce elementary and middle school students to competitive golf in a fun and efficient manner. Club Golf intends to build a pipeline of students with elevated golf and life skills that will attend the Triad’s historically diverse high schools and compete on their golf teams.

Club Golf is an after-school program and students sign up through their respective schools. After dismissal, students are transported to Gillespie Golf Course by bus where they receive golf and life skills instruction from trained First Tee staff and numerous on-course play opportunities. Each season features group practices and concludes with a series of kid-friendly competitions using the PGA Jr. League and Drive, Chip & Putt formats. Club Golf participants receive their own clubs and uniforms to use for practices and matches.

Club Golf is making a difference by providing:
● Transportation to the course
● A home course kids can call their own
● Clubs that fit
● Clothing kids are proud to wear
● Access to qualified golf instructors and experienced mentors
● A sense of community for students from different schools
● An anchor point to their regular school activities
● A development pipeline of kids ready to play and compete in middle and high school golf

Program Partners
● Guilford County Schools
● Gillespie Golf Course
● City of Greensboro

Imagine if there was an organization that cared about high school golf and dedicated time, money and resources for this segment of the game? The National High School Golf Association is an organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of high school golfers across the United States. High school golf often get overshadowed by junior golf tournaments given most states only have one major high school state golf tournament for each division. If you are a high school student who cannot afford junior golf events and/or if there are no junior golf tournaments in your area, your high school state tournament is the biggest stage for you to showcase your talent and get ranked. Highschoolgolf.org was developed to unite high school golfers nationally by providing national high school golf rankings, showcasing tournament results, playing opportunities and providing access to unbiased information on college recruiting, coaching, and equipment discounts.

As of April 2019, the NHSGA became part of The PGA of America through the PGA’s acquisition of Nextgengolf.
