An
update from your Area Director, Jim Lohbauer, PGA:
I hope
everyone is having a great summer so far and your clubs are fully
recovered from the aftermath of last winter. The Section is
midway through the major tournament season and I hope that many
of you are working on your games and supporting these fine
events. Our success as an area and Section depend on your
support as a PGA Professional so be sure to get involved where
you can, play in Section events and support our Foundation.
Help me in
congratulating one of our area Professionals, Billy Cleveland
from Carolina GCC, who just earned the PGA’s highest honor in
earning his Master Professional status in the area of General
Management. Way to go Billy and well deserved! As a
fellow Master Professional, I know how much hard work was
involved and years of commitment. One of my goals in the
near future is to develop some area committees including education
and mentoring, assistants and tournaments to name a few. I
am sure I can count on Billy and others to step up and get
involved so please email me if you have any interest in learning
more or getting involved. I will plan to arrange a meeting
this fall to begin discussions and develop a game plan for the
future.
Charlotte
CC hosted a PGA Golf Clinic for women last month that featured
past LPGA Tour player Jane Blalock along with our own Paige Cribb
and Mary Thomas. The clinic hosted many Carolinas female
executives and proved to be a great success. Charlotte CC
also looks to host the Harvick 4 Heroes/PGA Reach Pro-Am on
October 1 which will contribute largely to our PGA Reach
Foundation. The event is near full and we are actively
recruiting key donations for the event’s auction to raise as much
funds as possible for the Foundation. If anyone is able to
donate some rounds of golf, lodging or autographed memorabilia,
please contact myself or the Section office.
Many of you are gearing up for a busy Fall season
with events and activity at your respected clubs and I wanted to
remind everyone of a few key events in the upcoming weeks
including the following:

CPGA Professional Championship: 8/27-8/29
CPGA Assistants Championship: 9/10-9/11
