Lillington, NC – On Monday, July 17, 2023, 16 individuals participated in the Inaugural PGA HOPE Raleigh HOPE-A-Thon at Keith Hills Golf Course in Lillington, NC. Through weeks of fundraising by each individual, a total of $16,385 was raised for PGA HOPE Raleigh!
Participants arrived at 7:30 a.m. and were greeted by PGA HOPE Veterans & staff. Each participant was given a customized tee gift printed by Lie + Loft. The HOPE-A-Thon began at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. After an exciting 10 hours, 100 holes were played by each participant. The event concluded with a gift presentation to the top fundraisers, Brinson Byrd, PGA & Martin Lucas, PGA. Both PGA Professionals exceeded $3,000 in donations!
PGA HOPE Carolinas (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) is an adaptive golf program offered by our PGA Professionals as a rehabilitation tool to improve our Veterans’ quality of life by enhancing their mental, social, physical, and emotional well-being. There is NO COST to our Veterans. We serve our Veterans at twenty-one locations in North and South Carolina with an emphasis on helping those with physical and emotional disabilities that would most benefit from our initiatives.
First Tee – Triangle played a pivotal role in the establishment of PGA HOPE Raleigh, officially launching the program to Triangle Veterans in the Spring of 2022. It is led by PGA HOPE Lead Rick Hengstenberg, PGA and is currently hosted at Hedingham Golf Club in Raleigh, NC. The program will move to First Tee – Triangle’s new golf facility in 2024. PGA HOPE Raleigh will host their next session in the Fall of 2023.
