About Us
History of the Carolinas
The Carolinas Section of the PGA was formed in 1923 and officially recognized by the PGA in 1940. Today, the Carolinas PGA has grown to be the largest of the PGA’s forty-one sections with more than 2,700 professional members and associates employed at more than 700 golf facilities. Our geographic territory embraces North and South Carolina and a small portion of southern Virginia.
The Carolinas PGA is dedicated to nurturing and improving the quality of the game for the thousands of golfers using our member facilities. PGA professionals are responsible for conducting various golf-related functions, including golf shop merchandising, golf instruction, tournament operations, Junior golf programs, golf club repair, administering the Rules, public relations, and much more.

Adam Fisher stayed calm all day and never looked at a leaderboard, he didn’t need to know where he stood until the 17th hole.
Turns out he’d been in control the whole time. Two holes later, he was a champion.
Now his sights are set on Streamsong. After finishing 40th there each of the last two years, Fisher says this trip, he’s playing for a top 20 or better.

Two leaders, two different paths to the top at Porters Neck.
Adam Fisher made a hole-in-one on No. 11 and backed it up with the low round of the day, a 6-under 66, to reach -6. John Thompson got there his own way, carding back-to-back 3-under rounds and sticking with the game plan that’s kept him steady all week.
They share the 36-hole lead as the field moves into the final round, with 63 players advancing after the cut fell at +7, all playing for one of 11 spots to Streamsong.
