Murfreesboro, TN – Eight PGA Jr. League teams representing the Carolinas competed at the 2026 PGA Jr. League Regional Championship, held this past weekend, September 25-27 at Indian Hills Golf Course in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The Regional brought together 13U and 17U teams representing the Carolinas PGA, Georgia PGA and Tennessee PGA Sections, with Section Champions and top teams from the Regional Leaderboard competing for the opportunity to advance to the PGA Jr. League Championship.
Leading the way for the Carolinas was the 12 Oaks/MacGregor Downs 13U team, coached by Bo Bolick, PGA, and Andrew Kiger, PGA, which captured the Regional Championship and earned a trip to the PGA Jr. League Championship at PGA Frisco in November. The team advanced through Saturday’s stroke play and Sunday’s semifinal before meeting TPC Sugarloaf in the championship match.
The Regional title marks the second consecutive year that Bolick and Kiger’s 13U team has advanced through the Regional Championship to earn a spot at PGA Frisco.
Eight Teams Represent the Carolinas
The Carolinas were also represented in the 17U championship match by Tanglewood Golf Club, coached by Daniel Byrd, PGA. Tanglewood advanced through Saturday’s stroke play and Sunday morning’s semifinal to earn a place in the final against Summer Grove Medalist of Georgia, finishing the weekend as Regional runner-up.
The Regional tee sheet featured Tanglewood players throughout the 17U field, including Beckett Throckmorton, Cole Taylor, Hampton Cogdill, Kevin Zhang, Levi May, Quinn Spicer, Sophia Perdue and Sam Adams V.
In total, the Carolinas sent four teams in each age division to Murfreesboro. The 13U division included 12 Oaks/MacGregor Downs, coached by Bolick; Country Club of Lexington, coached by Dustin Perry, PGA; Tanglewood Golf Club, coached by Byrd; and Bluffton All Stars, coached by Kirk Mitchell, PGA. The 17U division included Maple Chase, coached by Webb Wishon, PGA; Bluffton All Stars, coached by Mitchell; Tanglewood Golf Club, coached by Byrd; and Devils Ridge Golf Club, coached by John Michael, PGA. The field included players from each of those programs competing throughout Saturday’s opening round.
The Road Through Regionals
Regional competition began with an 18-hole aggregate stroke play scramble on Saturday, with each team counting its top three of four scores on each nine. The top four teams in each division advanced to Sunday’s match-play bracket, featuring morning semifinals followed by the championship matches that afternoon.
The weekend capped another strong showing for PGA Jr. League programs across the Carolinas, with players, coaches and families traveling to Tennessee to represent their respective programs and the Carolinas PGA Section.
