Santa Ana Pueblo, NM (November 2024) – Team North Carolina proudly represented their state at the PGA Jr. League 17u National Championship held at Twin Warriors Golf Club. Under the guidance of PGA Professional Evelyn Walters, the team competed against the nation’s best young golfers, demonstrating their skills and sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Reflecting on the experience, Walters said, “This was such an incredible experience for all our kids. Twin Warriors was a beautiful golf course; every turn, the views were just incredible.”

Despite a challenging first round, the team rallied on Saturday, showcasing resilience. Walters emphasized the camaraderie they experienced, particularly with Team Utah, whom they cheered on during the finals, and the all-girl “Dream Team” from Ohio, with whom they bonded over the weekend.

“While we did not finish in the top 4, we are proud of our top-10 finish in the nation. They had a blast, and made friends that will surpass New Mexico,” Walters added. “What’s special for us is that our entire team is from the same club, they are growing up together not just playing golf together but great friends outside the golf course. We were so proud to represent the state of North Carolina, Bentwinds Country Club, and the Carolinas PGA.”

Team North Carolina is already looking forward to preparing for next year’s championship, aiming to build on this year’s success. “We’ve got work to do and are ready for the challenge of 2025,” Walters concluded.
