Charlotte, NC – October 21, 2024 – The Carolinas PGA is proud to announce the success of the 2024 Club Car CPGA Pro-Official Championship, which assisted the Carolinas PGA in raising an outstanding $76,000 in support of Hurricane Helene relief efforts. Hosted at Providence Country Club in Charlotte, NC, the event brought together golf professionals and high-ranking officials from their clubs & businesses for a day of competition and community action, benefiting those affected by the devastating storm in the Western Carolinas.
The funds raised will be split between the Red Cross and the PGA Disaster Relief Fund, providing crucial resources for rebuilding efforts in the region. Contributions were collected through both the event and individual donations, reinforcing the commitment of the golf community to helping those in need. PGA REACH Carolinas, the philanthropic arm of the Carolinas PGA Section, facilitated the fundraising initiative.
“We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support and generosity shown by all participants and sponsors,” said Mike Whitenack, Assistant Executive Director of Championships & Development with the Carolinas PGA staff. “This event was more than just a golf tournament—it was an opportunity for the Carolinas golf community to come together and make a real difference for those affected by Hurricane Helene.”
Despite the challenging circumstances and the rescheduling of the tournament, the event saw strong participation, with a shotgun start at 10:00 AM following a morning breakfast reception. 116 players took part in the 18-hole Four-Ball net stroke play tournament. The day was filled with camaraderie and goodwill, culminating in a celebratory lunch reception where the funds raised were announced. PGA Professional Aaron Black and his partner John Gordon of Springfield Golf Club came away as the event champions with a team score of 8-under 64.
The success of the tournament would not have been possible without the generous contributions of event partners like McConnell Golf, Club Car, Turtleson, TRUE Linkswear, BlueGolf, JaniKing, Heritage Creations USA, L2 Brands, and Foresight Sports, as well as the tireless efforts of the Providence Country Club staff, and the dedicated support of participants and donors alike. The funds raised will directly aid recovery efforts, helping rebuild homes, businesses, and lives impacted by the hurricane.
The Carolinas PGA extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this cause and invites those still interested in supporting to donate through the PGA REACH Carolinas Foundation. Further donations can be accepted here.
