Since its inception in 1923, the Carolinas PGA Section has been committed to nurturing and improving the quality of the game for the thousands of golfers using its member facilities. Now the largest of the PGA’s forty-one sections, the Carolinas PGA Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association boasts over 2,000 professional members and represents more than 700 golf facilities within North and South Carolina as well as portions of southern Virginia.
PGA professionals are responsible for conducting a variety of golf-related functions which include human resource management, golf shop merchandising, golf instruction, tournament operations, junior golf programs, growth of the game initiatives, golf club repair, administering the rules, public relations and much more.

Tobacco Road Golf just opened its newest addition, and CPGA staff got to be some of the first to play it.
A few of us made the trip out for the grand opening of the Match Box, Tobacco Road’s new 12-hole short course. Plenty of good golf and no shortage of good shots, including a hole-in-one on 10 from our CEO, Jeff Abbot!
Huge thanks to Scooter Buhrman, PGA, for hosting us and showing off what they built.

David Siegel (a) is your 2026 South Carolina Senior Open Champion! Siegel fired a 68 in the opening round at Springfield Golf Club and finished the tournament at 9-under, winning by four shots over the field.
In the Super Senior Division, James Pearson (a) took the title at 3-over for the tournament, carding rounds of 73 and 74, his third straight South Carolina Senior Open Super Senior title after also winning in 2024 and 2025. He also claimed the Super Senior Division at this year’s North Carolina Open - what a year he has had!

John Ogden, PGA, is your CPGA Senior Professional Champion! He finished at 7-under to claim the title at Bulls Bay Golf Club, with Head Professional Greg Boyette, PGA, taking second on his home course at 6-under.

David Engram, PGA leads the Senior’s at 5-under and the Women’s is tied at 3-under with Marcy Newton, PGA & Bailey Stromberg sitting at the top. It was a hot one at Lea Anne Brown but play starts tomorrow at 7:30 AM. See you tomorrow!!

Symon Balbin is your 62nd North Carolina Open champion! A final-round 66 capped off a wire-to-wire performance, finishing 16-under, two shots clear of the field at Forest Oaks Country Club.
Even the weather couldn’t slow this one down. Forest Oaks Country Club and Director of Golf Ben Sloan, PGA delivered a championship-caliber week from start to finish.
