The Carolinas PGA Section is proud to celebrate the success of two North Carolina All-Star teams that secured their spots in the 2025 PGA Jr. League National Championships following outstanding performances at the Region 6 Championship, held Sept. 19-21 at Southern Landings Golf Club in Warner Robins, Georgia. The Carolinas were proudly represented in Georgia by eight All-Star teams across the 13u and 17u divisions, showcasing the depth of junior golf talent across the Section.
12 Oaks/MacGregor All-Stars Crowned 13u Regional Champions
The 12 Oaks/MacGregor All-Stars (The Club at 12 Oaks in Holly Springs, NC, and MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, NC) claimed the 13u Regional Championship title, defeating the Sugarloaf All-Stars (TPC Sugarloaf, GA) in a thrilling 6.5–5.5 final match.
Led by Coach Bo Bolick, PGA (The Club at 12 Oaks) and Assistant Coach Andrew Kiger, PGA, the team advanced through a competitive weekend, highlighted by a dominant 10–2 semifinal victory over the Chattanooga All-Stars. The squad also secured the No. 1 seed after shooting an impressive -38 in Saturday’s stroke play qualifying round, two strokes clear of the Sugarloaf All-Stars.
Bolick emphasized both the preparation and the camaraderie that carried the team to success:
“Each player on our team competes in individual tournaments throughout the year. They all have different processes, as well as different strengths and weaknesses in their games. We’ve had multiple team practices and gatherings to keep the team aspect of PGA Jr. League rolling and to practice the nuances in strategy. The thing that stands out to me the most is the work these boys have put in over the last year. They knew they wanted to make it to Georgia and hopefully to Texas, so they have been putting in the work, day and night, to make that dream a reality.”
Bolick also credited the culture of support around the program:
“We are thrilled to represent two incredible clubs as well as the Carolinas Section. None of this would be possible without 12 Oaks and MacGregor Downs providing us the ability to practice and play, and the Carolinas PGA for hosting the tournaments. These players have grown together as friends and competitors, and the trust they have in each other is unparalleled. Their maturity on the course is far beyond their age.”
The 12 Oaks/MacGregor All-Stars will represent Team North Carolina in their first-ever appearance at the 13u PGA Jr. League Championship, to be held Nov. 16–20, 2025, at PGA Frisco’s Fields Ranch West in Texas. For the fifth year, the 13u Championship will be broadcast live on ESPN networks.
Bentwinds All-Stars Repeat as 17u Regional Champions
The Bentwinds All-Stars (Bentwinds Country Club, Fuquay-Varina, NC) defended their regional crown in the 17u Division, edging the Summer Grove All-Stars (GA) 6.5–5.5 in Sunday’s championship match.
After earning the No. 1 seed with a -29 stroke play total, the Bentwinds squad rolled through the semifinals with a 9.5–2.5 win over Franklin Bridge (TN) before sealing their spot at Nationals.
Coach Evelyn Walters, PGA, shared how the team’s preparation and community support laid the foundation for success:
“Our preparation for Regionals really started back in March, when we set goals and put a plan in place for the season. To see that work paying off now is a great feeling. We’ve been practicing twice a week with a strong emphasis on putting, but just as important, we’ve focused on teamwork and camaraderie. It’s been incredible to see how much these players support one another—they’re not just teammates, they’re great friends.”
Walters also highlighted the impact of the Bentwinds community and the values that define their team:
“It’s an incredible honor to represent both Bentwinds and the Carolinas Section on the regional stage. Our Bentwinds family is second to none, and their support of our junior program and PGA Jr. League is unmatched. While winning matters, what we value most—and want the players to embrace—is teamwork, character, and friendship. Seeing those qualities grow alongside their skills is what makes this so special.”
The Bentwinds All-Stars will once again compete as Team North Carolina at the 17u PGA Jr. League Championship, held Oct. 23–26, 2025, at Twin Warriors Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico. Last year, the team finished 10th in the Championship.
