Tom Mason Named 2019 Carolinas PGA Golf Professional of the Year

Carolinas PGA Celebrates 2019 Special Award Winners

Greensboro, NC. (December 2, 2019) – The Carolinas PGA is honored to announce the winners of the 2019 Section Special Awards. Distributed annually by the Carolinas PGA, the top eleven most deserving Carolinas PGA Professionals are selected by the Special Awards Committee, whose mission is to recognize the best and brightest PGA professionals in North and South Carolina.

The Carolinas PGA is proud to announce the 2019 Golf Professional of the Year, Tom Mason, PGA. A dedicated member of the Section since 1996, Mason currently serves as Director and Owner of The Par Tee Golf Center as well as Head Golf Coach at Columbia College. His dedication to grow the game of golf is showcased through his numerous junior golf initiatives, coaching at the local college, and volunteer time spent with the Carolinas Section and allied associations. Mason’s impact and success is also showcased through his previous awards earned with the Section; 2017 Youth Player Development Award, 2018 Player Development Award, and 2012 Horton Smith Award.

The highest honor paid to a PGA Professional, the Golf Professional of the Year Award honors excellent overall performance as a golf professional at his/her facility, level of service to the Section, leadership ability, image and the ability to inspire fellow professionals, and promotion of the game of golf.

In addition to the Carolinas’ ten annual awards, the Patriot Award has been added to list of honors for 2019. Numerous professionals in the Carolinas are vehemently dedicated to impacting the lives of military veterans through the game of golf and deserve to be recognized for their selfless efforts. Winning the inaugural CPGA Patriot Award is Perry Green, PGA. In addition to his duties as General Manager at The Golf Club at Wescott Plantation, Green has led the charge with the PGA HOPE program in the Charleston area. Beginning the program in 2014 with four veteran participants, Green has now impacted the lives of over 300 veterans in his program alone.

Merchandiser of the Year (Public) – Kevin Williamson, PGA | TPC Myrtle Beach
Assistant Professional of the Year presented by Srixon / Cleveland Golf / XXIO – Andrew Itterly, PGA | Country Club of Charleston
Patriot Award – Perry Green, PGA | The Golf Club at Wescott Plantation

Mason, along with the ten other very deserving award winners, will be honored at the Carolinas PGA Club Car Awards and Honors Dinner, Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Greensboro Country Club – Irving Park.
