Charlotte, NC – The 2025 PGA Championship returned to the historic Quail Hollow for the second time in the club’s history, and what a week it was! While golf was at the heart of it, we were also celebrating and growing the game every single day of the week!

PGA Championship week began with the annual PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup at Carmel Country Club, right down the street from Quail Hollow. The red carpet was rolled out for the 12 teams of veterans who travelled across the country to compete. From a casual poolside welcome dinner to a special Sunday evening at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, the competitors enjoyed top-tier hospitality before teeing off on a rainy Monday morning. Despite the weather, spirits were high. Team Carolinas posted a solid -4, but it was Team North Florida that emerged victorious with an impressive -8. Congratulations to the champions, and a big thank you to Carmel Country Club and its staff for hosting a memorable event.

Throughout all the festivities of the week, the Carolinas PGA staff and section volunteers worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make the tournament go as smoothly as possible. The PGA Member Tent, managed by the section, was a welcome retreat offering air conditioning, cold drinks, and the ever-popular Gleezy hotdog. On the practice range and throughout the course, the dedication of our team shined through, even in tough conditions. Also, PGA HOPE Graduates graciously gave their time as volunteers in the PGA Merch Shops. Their commitment didn’t go unnoticed and was deeply appreciated by all.

When the tournament officially started, more PGA REACH activities took off, adding extra excitement!

  • On Thursday and Friday, different representatives of the three pillars (Youth, Military, and Diversity & Inclusion) of PGA REACH helped PGA of America District Officers announce players at the 18th green.
  • Saturday was a special day for PGA Jr. Leaguers, as it was PGA Jr. League Day! Teal jerseys swarmed Quail Hollow as players and their families were invited to the Championship for a day of fun and golf!
  • PGA HOPE Ambassadors Colton Hensley and Alex Venker were given the opportunity to be standard bearers for some of the best players in golf!

Then came Championship Sunday, a day that PGA REACH Carolinas will never forget. Five representatives from each PGA REACH pillar stood proudly on the 18th green as Scottie Scheffler was crowned the 2025 PGA Champion. Not only did they witness his moment of triumph, they got to take a photo with him and the Wanamaker Trophy!

Congratulations to 2025 PGA Champion, Scottie Scheffler! It was a week full of rain, anticipation, and fun, but the common denominator is the love for the game of golf and passion for growing the game.

WE LOVE THIS GAME!
