KIAWAH ISLAND, SC (November 8, 2021) — Fourteen teams from across the Carolinas competed in the 4th Annual PGA REACH Carolinas HOPE Cup hosted at the gorgeous Cougar Point Golf Club at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. The whole day was filled with laughs, camaraderie, and competition.

Three teams tied the low round of 8-under-par, 28 after the 9-hole tournament but it was the team from PGA HOPE Asheville that took home the win after a scorecard playoff. The team consisting of PGA HOPE Lead Brian Oliver, PGA, United States Air Force Veterans Greg Mitchell and Rick Youmans, United States Army Veteran Neil Myres, and United States Marines Veteran Pacer Vaughn scored an eagle on the Par-5 No. 9 hole to secure the scorecard playoff win. The teams from PGA HOPE Columbia and PGA HOPE Charleston – Wescott GC also finished the round at 8-under-par, 28.

The PGA HOPE Asheville team will compete at the 2022 PGA HOPE Secretary’s Cup at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, OK in conjunction with the 2022 PGA Championship.

This event is a humbling day for the PGA REACH Carolinas team to host. This is the very least we can do to give back to our veterans who sacrificed so much for our country! The veterans have an absolute blast during this day, and it is amazing to see the joy in all of their faces.

We would like to thank Carolinas PGA Secretary and Head Professional at Cougar Point Golf Club Josh Wagaman, PGA and his entire staff for hosting this event every year!
