SUMMERFIELD, NC (September 5, 2023) – On Labor Day Weekend, 13U (players ages 10-13) and 17U (players ages 14-17) All-Star teams of junior golfers traveled to Greensboro National Golf Club for the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Regional Championship.

Through PGA Jr. League, kids ages 17 and under learn and play golf on co-ed teams, wear numbered jerseys and receive expert coaching from PGA Professionals. Following recreational play in the spring and summer, hundreds of 13U and 17U All-Star teams are formed in each league to compete in the National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship Season. 

All-Star teams begin at Section Qualifiers and Section Championships held by all 41 PGA Sections. The Regional Championship at Greensboro National Golf Club was made up of teams from the Carolinas, Georgia, & Tennessee PGA Sections. The tournament consisted of a practice round on Friday & two days of competition. All teams competed in a stroke play qualifying event on day one. On day two the top four teams from the qualifying event progressed on to a Match play qualifier in the morning while the lower four teams from the qualifying stroke event played in an additional stroke play shootout. On day 2 afternoon, the winners from the Match Play qualifier competed in a final Match play championship.

The 13U Regional Champions will vie for the title at the 13U National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship Oct. 3-8 at PGA Frisco’s Fields Ranch West Golf Course. For the first time, 17U Regional Champions will compete nationally in the 17U National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship, with more information on location and dates to be released soon. Previously, their journey culminated at the Regional level.
