North and South Carolina – The road to the PGA Jr. League Championships continues this weekend, September 19–21, as teams from across the Carolinas prepare to compete in the 2025 PGA Jr. League Regional Championship. Hosted at Southern Landings Golf Club in Warner Robins, Georgia, the Regional will showcase eight 13u and eight 17u All-Star teams from across the country, all vying for a coveted spot at Nationals.
This year, four 13u teams and four 17u teams will proudly represent the Carolinas Section of the PGA. The winners of each division at all 12 Regionals will advance to the 2025 PGA Jr. League Championships—beginning with the 17u Championship at Twin Warriors Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, October 23–26. The 13u Championship will follow a few weeks later at PGA Frisco’s Fields Ranch West in Frisco, Texas, November 16–20.
As these All-Star teams prepare for the challenge ahead, their coaches reflected on how their players have trained, grown, and come together throughout the season. For Bo Bolick, PGA, who leads the 13u 12 Oaks/MacGregor team, the year has been about building both skill and camaraderie: “They knew they wanted to make it to Georgia and hopefully to Texas, so they have been putting in the work, day and night, to make that dream a reality. The trust they have in each other is unparalleled, and their maturity at times is far above their age with some of the decision and shot making on the course.”
John Michael, PGA, coaching Devils Ridge Golf Club’s 17u team, emphasized resilience: “Every All-Star match this season was in 95+ heat or pouring rain. Regardless of the circumstances, they showed up and performed. They are not just better golfers, they are better friends.”
For Daniel Byrd, PGA, who leads both Tanglewood Park teams (13u and 17u), the growth has been evident on and off the course: “As golfers, they’ve improved in the way they manage their games and make smarter on-course decisions. As teammates, it’s been special to watch the friendships develop. Many of them are still playing together outside of league matches, and I think they’ve built bonds that will last for years.”
At Bentwinds Country Club, Evelyn Walters, PGA credited her team’s preparation and unity: “Our preparation really started back in March, when we set goals and put a plan in place for the season. With two Bentwinds teams advancing, it’s been incredible to see how much these players support one another—they’re not just teammates, they’re great friends.”
John Wease, PGA, who leads the Cleveland County/Upstate All-Stars, praised the mentorship within his group: “My favorite thing about PGA Jr. League is watching our team veterans take our rookies under their wing. The friendships and mentorships that develop often extend well beyond the season and often last a lifetime.”
And for Kirk Mitchell, PGA, representing Moss Creek/Oldfield, the season has been about accountability and togetherness: “This All-Star team has grown as a family throughout our junior league season. They push each other in practice, compete with each other to bring out the best in one another, and build each other up when things aren’t going great. This Bluffton All-Star team is ready to show off their skills and have fun as a family this week in Warner Robins, GA.”
From North Carolina to South Carolina, the Carolinas Section will be well-represented in Georgia! We’re wishing the best of luck to all of our teams as they chase their dreams and compete for a chance to punch their ticket to Nationals.
