Carolinas Section team earned their spot to compete for the
PGA Jr. League Championship
Springfield, VA (Sept. 22) – Recently, PGA Jr. League hosted their PGA Jr. League Regional Championship at Springfield Golf & Country Club in Springfield, Virginia, where four teams (Charlotte 3 All-Stars, Morganton All-Stars, 1757 All-Stars, and Hobbit’s Glen All-Stars) competed against each other to earn a spot in the 2019 PGA Jr. League Championship presented by National Car Rental at Grayhawk Golf Club (Scottsdale, Arizona) on Oct. 11-14.
Saturday morning’s first session paired 1757 All-Stars with Charlotte 3 All-Stars who won the game 7 ½ to 4 ½. The Hobbit’s Glen All-Stars won their game against the Morganton All-Stars 9 ½ to 2 ½.
The Charlotte 3 All-Stars extended their perfect record through the second session, with the Charlotte 3 All-Stars defeating Morganton 9 to 3. The Hobbit’s Glen All-Stars and the 1757 All-Stars tied their match with a final score of 6.
In the final session on Sunday, the Charlotte 3 All-Stars bested the Hobbit’s Glen All-Stars 6 ½ to 5 ½. The 1757 All-Stars rounded out the day with a 7 ½ to 4 ½ win over the Morganton All-Stars.
The PGA Jr. League Post season presented by National Car Rental is designed to celebrate the recreational spring/summer season held in March through July, as well as provide a fun and welcoming environment for the 19 percent of PGA Jr. League players who identify as competitive golfers. Following the regular season, 10-player All-Star teams were formed from a combination of players in each local league.
PGA Jr. League brings friends and families together around fun, co-ed team golf experiences, all with expert coaching and instruction from PGA and LPGA Professionals. Kids wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with friends, using a scramble format for competition that encourages mentorship and promotes sportsmanship.
