Aiken, SC (August 24, 2021) — After two long and hot days of play here at Palmetto Golf Club, Assistant Professional at Diamond Creek Golf Club Mason Stutler, PGA claimed the victory at the National Car Rental Assistants Championship.
Stutler kept his lead from round one and finished the day carding 3 birdies and an eagle at 9-under-par, 133. The leaderboard did not change much from round one with Jared Howard, Associate Professional at Myers Park Country Club finishing in second place with an overall score of 6-under-par, 136 after an eagle and 4 birdies. Josh Stockwell, Associate Professional at Cedarwood Country Club, also remained in his third place spot finishing at 4-under-par, 148. Tommy Gibson, PGA, Assistant Professional at Old Town Club finished in fourth place at 3-under-par, 139.
These top four finishers as well as Preston Cole, PGA of Quail Hollow Club, Evan Hyma, PGA of Diamond Creek Golf Club, and Seth Robertson of Hendersonville Country Club have qualified to play in the 45th National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship to be held November 11-14, 2021 at PGA Golf Club’s Wanamaker Course in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Conner Nash of Country Club of Charleston, Chris Hamm of Wachesaw Plantation Club, Jon Mayer, PGA of Headwaters Golf Course, and Thomas Redding of Charlotte Country Club will be the four alternate positions for the tournament.

About Palmetto Golf Club
Palmetto Golf Club was founded in 1892 by Thomas Hitchcock, a prominent sportsman from Long Island, New York. He and his wife attracted many wealthy families from the Northeast who established a Winter Colony in Aiken. These winter residents created several recreational facilities for polo, fox hunting, horseback riding, and tennis. Several large estates were constructed in the heart of Aiken in the vicinity of the Palmetto Golf Club, many of which continue to exist.
