An update from your Area Director, Ben Smith, PGA:

As the calendar turns to the upcoming winter months, we’re wrapping up a busy fall season in the Lowcountry. I know many of us are excited to gather up in Pinehurst in a couple weeks’ time for the Section Pro-Pro – good luck to all those competing! Hopefully, I’ll see many of you up there or at Belfair for the final HHIPGA event and meeting of the season.

With the holidays approaching, best wishes for safe travels and great times with family and friends to all of our Area Professionals and Apprentices! As always, if there’s anything that I can do to assist please do not hesitate to reach out.

Lowcountry Area Professionals – News and Notes

Matt Bova Qualifies for National PGA Professional Championship

Congratulations to Matt on his T-2 finish at the CPGA Professional Championship at Sea Pines! Based on that finish, he joins eight other Section Professionals who qualified for the 51st PGA Professional Championship to be held at Belfair Golf Club.

Harvick4Heroes PGA Reach Pro-Am A Success – Josh Wagaman’s Winning Team

As a Section, we had a great inaugural Harvick4Heroes PGA Reach Pro-Am at Charlotte Country Club. We’re pleased to announce that the event raised approximately $100,000 for the two charities to split! The Lowcountry Area was well-represented in the silent auction, and for that a big thank you goes out to all the local Professionals who supported the cause with a donation.

In fun news, congratulations to Josh Wagaman of Kiawah Island for pairing up Ralph Borrello, Brent Martin, Jason Howard & Len Lopez as they won the event with a team score of 120. As next year rolls around, I would strongly encourage any Area Professional to support the event, whether that means bringing a team and playing or simply donating an auction item.

Inaugural PGA REACH Carolinas HOPE Cup

On this year's observed Veterans Day, PGA REACH Carolinas hosted the Inaugural PGA REACH Carolinas HOPE Cup at Pinehurst Resort. PGA HOPE Charleston at Wescott Golf Club took home the winning title and will advance to the national PGA Secretary’s Cup during the week of the 2019 PGA Championship at Bethpage Black, outside of New York City. Congratulations to Lead PGA Professional, Perry Green, and his team of Bill Burge, Jesse Duff, Fred Gutierrez & Doug Robertson!

Below are our participating chapters with their very impressive scores from the day! It is great to have five of the eleven chapters right in our area – a special thanks to the PGA Professionals that lead those chapters: Perry Green, Ron Cerrudo, Jeremy Smith, Ben Sloan, and Josh Wagaman!
