Joyce & Healy Capture 2020 Pro-Assistant Title

Wallace, NC (June 23, 2020) – After a heavyweight battle, Eagle Point Golf Club’s Brian Joyce, PGA, and Thomas Healy, PGA take home the 2020 CPGA Pro-Assistant Championship Belts. They set the pace in round one with an eight-under and followed it up with a 66 in round two. The first round included 4 birdies in a row and their final score was -14 edging a strong field by two strokes.

Both rounds were played on the Landing Course at River Landing.  Damp course conditions were overcome, and two perfect days of weather allowed some low scores.

Four teams tied for second at -12 for the week. Nick Beecroft and Dave Ambrose, PGA from Elk River Club shot two-under rounds of 66, including an eagle by Beecroft during round one on the par-5 13th. John Faidley, PGA and Tyler Bantle, PGA from the Club at Longview followed up a 68 in round one with an 8 under 64 in round two. Their strong finish included a back-nine score of 31. From Treyburn Country Club, Tag Wylie, PGA, and Adam Stephenson shot back-to-back rounds of 66. Matt Vick, PGA, and Josh Stockwell tied the round two low score with a 64 to finish at 12 under.

Skins

Skins were awarded both rounds. Three skins were awarded in round 1 and paid out 256.67 to each team. The team of Luebchow/Lovell earned a skin after Luebchow eagled the par-5 6th. Similarly, the team of Beecroft/Ambrose were awarded a skin after Nick Beecroft eagled the par-5 13th. The highlight of the day was a Hole-in-One on the par-3 16th by Luis Hernandez. He hit a 6-iron 176 yards to earn a skin for the team of Cochran/Hernandez.

In the second round, the team of Reilly/Roux eagled the par-5 3rd and Story/Jasmin eagled the par-4 15th . to collect $385 for each team.

Shark Bucks

Greg Norman contributed $500 Shark Bucks for birdies or better on Hole 1 during round 1. The winning teams are listed below:

Closest to the Hole

Greg Norman also hosted a closest to the hole on the par-3 16th. Luebchow/Lovell came within 5’9’’ to claim the $350 top prize and Fields/Shuck finished second at 7’7’’ for the $150 prize.
