An update from your Area Director, Brett Miller, PGA:

I hope this note finds all my fellow professionals doing well and looking toward a positive wrap up of the 2018 season.  It certainly has been a trying year with our various weather events!   Here are some notes and updates of what has and will be going on:

PGA HOPE

Brian Oliver, PGA conducted another great session for our area veterans this past June.  The weather tried to interrupt several times, however over 20 veterans participated in learning the game of golf.  It was an incredible experience to all who were involved.  I know I was truly inspired.   Thanks to Brian, Pat Warren, Chris Sitko, Steve Dewitt, Rick Constance, David Quiroz, and Rick Merrick for their participation.

Drive Chip and Putt

Wow, Steve Goforth and Willow Creek have this event on auto pilot every year.  Their efforts make this event run incredibly smooth and the SCGA stepped in to help as well.   There were over 230 participants this year and a very talented field at that.  We continually see this program grow.  A great initiative indeed.   Thanks Steve!

Mountains Chapter meeting and Pro – Assistant
I was glad to be able to get over to this event, meeting and CE presentation by PGA employment consultant Mike Mueller.  He had some great insight to pass along and Trey Wyatt hosted a great event AND held off the rain.  Congrats to George Henson and Jeff Ingram for their playoff victory!  Next up on the chapter schedule is the Mimosa Hills Pro Am on August 15th and then the Chapter Championship at Cullasaga Club on October 10 and 11.

Thanks to area professionals Erika Price, Derrick Garrou and Michael Pius who join me on the section Public Relations committee.  We are working on several section wide initiatives and also would love to hear from you on some “best practice initiatives” that have worked out well for you.  Tell us your secrets!  Also, let us know if you or a fellow professional is doing good things in your community!

To back up, we appreciate the efforts Mike Mueller is doing in the area of employment.  We recently worked together in getting two non PGA facilities to hire PGA professionals and hope to keep that trend moving forward!

Make sure to open those emails in the coming months as we announce a fall CE event in our area and possibly another golf outing, if we can keep it from getting rained out!   And as always feel free to contact me at any time for any concern you may have.   Your thoughts can be open or confidential and I will be certain to follow up on those.
