A message from your Area Director, Marshall Stott, PGA:

I hope everyone is finally drying out from all the rain we have had for the past few weeks.  There were days when I thought it may never end!!  I’m sure before the rains came all of you were staying busy and enjoying the nice weather and hopefully we are getting back on track with clear skies.  I want to take a few minutes and let you know what has been happening and what will be coming up in the Cape Fear Area.

Drive Chip & Putt Highlight

On July 5th the Country Club of Landfall hosted the Drive, Chip and Putt and I must say the day was a huge success!!  They had 197 kids participate which was absolutely amazing to watch.  As I looked over the list of kids, the majority of them were from right here in Southeastern North Carolina!  That shows that both the professionals in our area along with the First Tee Programs are doing a great job promoting junior golf.  Personally I want to thank the professional staff at CCL and the Golf Professionals that were able to volunteer their time.  Ladies and gentleman, if you have time next year you should really take a day and volunteer for this event, because it will blow you away at the talent that is right here in your area.

At this time Sara Bush, other golf professionals and I are working on a Marathon Golf Day to benefit the 2018 Patriot Golf Day.  Each and every year our Section does an amazing job in raising funds for the Folds of Honor.  Last year the Carolina Section had 404 scholarship recipients that equaled to $1,699,750.00!!  We need to keep this pace up for 2018.  Please be on the lookout for more information regarding this event along with additional information on how to raise money from Sara Bush.

At this time I am finalizing education for our Area Events this fall.  If anyone has a particular subject matter they would be interested in hearing about, please do not hesitate to drop me a line or note.  As stated in my previous newsletter I would like to move throughout the Cape Fear Area for these events so you are able to showcase your facility.  Within the next 2 weeks you will see a few dates and I hope all of you are able to break away for education and golf.
