Carolinas PGA Celebrates 2018 Special Award Winners

Greensboro, NC. (November 26, 2018) – The Carolinas PGA is honored to announce the winners of the 2018 Section Special Awards. Distributed annually by the Carolinas PGA, the top ten most deserving Carolinas PGA Professionals are selected by the Special Awards Committee, whose mission is to recognize the best and brightest PGA professionals in North and South Carolina.

The Carolinas PGA is proud to announce the 2018 Golf Professional of the Year, Tom Dale, PGA. A member of the Section since 1993, Dale has served as Head Professional and now Director of Golf at Linville Golf Club in Linville, North Carolina. Evident from his notable 2015 Bill Strausbaugh Award, Dale encompasses a passion for mentorship. He enjoys passing along the wonderful advice he has received over his 25 years as a PGA Professional, with a focus on high moral character and professionalism. “I prefer to inspire by example and lead a life of honesty and integrity.”

The highest honor paid to a PGA Professional, the Golf Professional of the Year Award honors excellent overall performance as a golf professional at his/her facility, level of service to the Section, leadership ability, image and the ability to inspire fellow professionals, and promotion of the game of golf.

Horton Smith Award – Chris Byrd, PGA
Palmer Maples Teacher of the Year – Jason Baile, PGA
Player Development Award – Tom Mason, PGA
Youth Player Development Award – Briana Sweeny, PGA
Merchandiser of the Year (Private) – Franklin Newell, PGA
Merchandiser of the Year (Resort) – Greg Wrobel, PGA
Merchandiser of the Year (Public) – Todd Miller, PGA
Assistant Professional of the Year – Joe Wohlscheid, PGA.

Dale, along with the nine other very deserving award winners, will be honored at the Carolinas PGA Awards and Honors Dinner, Sunday, February 17, 2019 at Greensboro Country Club – Irving Park.
