102nd PGA Annual Meeting

Palm Springs, CA - Last week, Carolinas PGA Leadership traveled across the country to attend the 102nd PGA Annual Meeting. Many impactful initiatives were discussed among all 41 Sections' delegates including governance adjustments, the PGA's new contract with ESPN & CBS, and new approaches to teaching and developing golfers. Professionals gathered to honor the 2018 National Award winners, recognize Paul Levy's dedication as President to our Association over the past two years, and ended the week with inducting the PGA's first female President and electing a new PGA Secretary.

The Carolinas Section has had the privilege of supporting PGA Professional, Rick Murphy, in his campaign efforts for PGA of America Secretary over the past year. Murphy's campaign of Onefor41 was geared towards sending a message of Rick's commitment to intentionally serve each of the 41 sections while being attentive to their unique needs. This resonated with many section leaders, as his emphasis on creating the greatest value for the lives and careers of all PGA Members was a very personal message. His drive towards more transparency for the Association was refreshing and he placed a focus on two-way communication and mutual respect. He has shown his authentic passion for the association through these efforts and we are very proud of Rick's ongoing dedication and desire to serve the member and grow the game. Although he runner-up in this year's election to Michigan PGA Professional, John Lindert, we have been honored to support such a great leader in our Section throughout his campaign.
