2018 Club Car Pro-Official Championship presented by Stich Golf
October 29, 2018
JOYCE & WORSLEY BRING HOME PRO-OFFICIAL (Wilmington, NC) - The team of Brian Joyce, PGA and Cecil Worsley are the 2018 Club Car Carolinas PGA Pro-Official Presented by Stitch Golf Champions. The 18-hole championship was held on Joyce and Worsley’s home course, Eagle Point Golf Club in Wilmington, North Carolina. The field consisted of 61 two-person teams made up of Carolinas PGA Professionals and an Official from their home club or facility. The format was four-ball (better-ball) net, with the team taking the best score between the professional’s gross score and the official’s net score of each hole.
Brian Joyce, the PGA Head Professional at Eagle Point Golf Club, teamed up with Cecil Worsley who serves as Eagle Point’s Finance Chair. They carded 7 birdies and finished on 18 with a net eagle from Worsley to lead in the clubhouse at 63 (-9) after the morning wave of starting times. The team of Larry George, PGA and Terry Tate from River Landing Country Club came in from the afternoon wave with a matching 63. Because of the two waves of starting times, any tie was to be broken by the USGA scorecard tie-breaking method. After comparing the back nines, final 6 holes, and final 3 holes, both teams were still tied. It came down to the 18th hole to break the tie, where Worsley made a net eagle that ended up bringing home the title for the team from Eagle Point Golf Club.
The championship featured many partners of the Carolinas PGA Section providing the competitors with tee gifts, including Club Car, Stitch Golf, Evolve Golf, Orange Whip, Merchant Services, Ltd., and Teemark. There were also quite a few closest-to-the-hole contests put on by each of them, as well as a par-3 contest on the 9-hole par 3 course at Eagle Point. Below are the results of those contests:
Closest-to-the-Pin #2 (Teemark): Chase Godwin & Scott Dawson, 6 feet
