Abrams & Simpson Win Carolinas PGA Pro-Assistant

L-R:  Champions Kyle Simpson & Holden Abrams

The team of Holden Abrams and Kyle Simpson captured the Carolinas PGA Pro-Assistant Championship Presented by PING, Four County EMC, Greg Norman Collection, and Yamaha Golf Cars, held at River Landing Country Club in Wallace, NC.

Abrams, the PGA Head Professional at Jacksonville CC in Jacksonville, NC, and Simpson, the PGA Apprentice General Manager at Bear Trail GC in Jacksonville, NC, posted rounds of 62-67=129 (-15).  Their rounds featured 15 team birdies, one eagle, and two bogeys.  Their final birdie proved to be the most important and timely.  Simpson drained a forty-foot putt on #18 to close out Ben Smith, the PGA Head Professional at Port Royal GC in Hilton Head Island, SC, and Seth Sweet, the PGA Apprentice Assistant Professional at Secession GC in Beaufort, SC, by one stroke.  Smith and Sweet finished one stroke behind at 66-64=130 (-14).

Nearby lightning early in the morning of the second and final round forced the decision to move to two shotgun starts.  However, the skies later cleared and provided an enjoyable day.
