This Sunday, July 16, CBS Sports will present “Turning Passion into Profession”- an hour-long special narrated by Gary McCord which introduces viewers to PGA Professionals nationwide and highlights the diverse roles they play as stewards of the game at the grassroots level. Among the many Professionals to be featured will be Carolinas PGA Member and Head Professional, Scott Davenport of Quail Hollow Club, the host site of the 99th PGA Championship.
The show is designed to inspire men, women and children of all ages who are enthusiastic about the game of golf to turn their passions into careers. The four primary career paths of a PGA Member - Instruction, Golf Operations, General Management and Player Development—are showcased, along with other opportunities to enter the industry, such as an entrepreneur, college coach and golf foundation executive.
Davenport will discuss his role at Quail Hollow as only the second PGA Head Professional in its history. He will even offer a preview of the upcoming 99th PGA Championship and what is involved in hosting the Club’s first major. Davenport will also speak to the unique day of coaching Carolina Panthers players Thomas Davis, Luke Kuechly and Greg Olson. The program will air on CBS at 2 p.m. ET, prior to final-round coverage of the John Deere Classic. Be sure to tune in!
