2021 Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort CPGA Pro-Am Presented by Club Car Ends on a High Note
(Cherokee, NC) – A glorious sunny morning welcomed golfers back to the mountains for the final day of the 2021 Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort Pro-Am Presented by Club Car. Golfers were able to experience their second course in two days, as those who played at Balsam Mountain Preserve yesterday headed over to Sequoyah National Golf Club today and vice versa.
The format for this event featured two separate contests, Team Gross (two low gross scores of the team for each hole) and Team Net (two low net scores of the team for each hole). All amateurs received 75% of their course handicap.
In the Team Gross contest, the team of Marco Mongillo, PGA and amateurs Ray Greco (a), Chris Sanders (a), and Tim Dunlap (a) put together a dominant performance, posting a round of 15-under par today to finish the tournament at 28-under-par, six strokes ahead of their nearest competitors.
There was a tie for the win in the Team Net competition, with two groups finishing the tournament at 32-under-par. The team of CPGA Professional Derek Watson, PGA and amateurs Mark Stoffel (a), Mike Brown (a), and Jay Rojas (a) and the team of CPGA Professional Brandon Alexander, PGA and amateurs Tim Alexander (a), Tommy Gales (a), and Jerry Austin (a) were crowned co-champions of the event.
Three CPGA Professionals, John Carter, PGA, Gregory Beavan, PGA, and Watson ended the tournament at 3-under-par, but it was Carter who took the win in a scorecard playoff using the total of both of his back nine scores from each course.
Another thank you to our generous partners, as his event would not have been possible without their support. The teams at Balsam Mountain and Sequoyah National were also a tremendous help in organizing the event and providing incredible hospitality for our players and staff.
